If you're new to all this interior design stuff, choosing the right insert size can be a bit of a head-scratcher. But don't worry, we're here to help! We're excited to share our expert advice on sizing, the different types of insert fill materials, and so much more!

What size insert should I get for my pillow covers?

For a full and plump look, choose an insert 2" larger than the size of the pillow cover.

  • For example: if you purchase a pillow cover that's 20x20, purchase a pillow insert measuring 22x22.

For lumbars, we typically recommend purchasing an insert the same size as the pillow cover to help prevent overstuffing.

What type of insert should I purchase?

When it comes to premium pillow inserts, you have some great options! Both the Feather and Down alternative give you that wonderful mix of firmness and softness. So, it’s all about what feels right to you! Plus, you can totally pull off that trendy "karate chop" look that designers are absolutely crazy about!

For Feather Inserts, what does the filling ratio "90% gray duck feathers/10% goose down" mean?

This ratio for feather inserts describes the amount of feathers to down stuffing.

  • 90% feather / 10% down (90/10) is ideal for decorative throw pillows
  • Not too soft and not too firm, offering support and flexibility

What if I'm allergic to feathers?

If allergies are a concern, you would most likely want down alternative pillow inserts. They mimic premium down pillow inserts without major allergen risk.

For Down Alternative Inserts, what does the filling ratio "50% woven cotten/50% poly mean?

This ratio for down alternative inserts describes the variation of the pillow insert filler.

  • 50% woven cotten / 50% poly is a great balance to bringing support and flexibility without the use of feather

What kind of insert should I get if I want to "karate-chop" my pillows?

Feather Down Pillow Inserts are best for the "chopped" look, but some premium alternative down options can provide a similar look.
